I’ve been asked many times over the years what has made so many @e3coach athletes successful, it’s a fair and good question.

I normally list, they understand the need for consistency, they are willing to do the work, they ask questions about the training, they find ways to make sessions happen.

Today though after one of these conversations, I want to flip it, let’s look at what they are not!

They don’t have EGO! They don’t have excuses. I’ve been around this industry long enough to see who will succeed and who will fail and then create excuses (rather than take a deep look in the mirror)

There’s no substance to back EGO up, so when something gets a little tough it hurts more as you see yourself as amazing but in this moment you are failing.

So ditch EGO and build self belief, this like base fitness has a foundation so when you get questioned in your challenge or life you can lean on it and it will support you.

Yeah so I am picky and lucky and I work with amazing people and it’s great to be surrounded by them.

I could list them all off but that would take awhile, so @e3coach community keep being awesome.

Bring on that deep fatigue feeling from a great time pushing myself, mind and body workout…….used to mean an afternoon snooze but Xavi will be putting a stop to that.

Do you know this fatigue, the one that just lets you know you’ve done something you love and pushed hard to get it done?

When was the last time you felt it? What had you done to create it?

For me it’s pretty much always in winter, since moving to the Highlands creating a lap from North Face carpark up an easy gully on north face of the Ben then descending back.

Hands down without doubt one of the best days out skiing with the dogs, great boot pack, then touring up #aiguillettedeshouches Lhotse and Oakley loving the freedom to just chase and play.

Our old home had this mountain as our main view, so was easy to get to but it was never busy, so a safe bet for the dogs to get some real play time.

Not sure if Oakley will get to play like this again, but will always take him to the snow no matter how old he gets.

Putting some straight up climbs in, nice and steep. Putting some functional and practical strength into the legs.

On this gradient it’s super easy to blow up quickly if you are pushing too hard, learning what pace you can hold is really important and even better, no matter how slow you go, you are getting stronger.

It’s important as athletes that we listen to our bodies and take onboard what they are telling us, example on a 30 plus minute steep climb, what is screaming at us?
Is it muscular weakness (if so where) is it cardio (pacing too high?) or is it our mind? Are we looking to the top and letting the overall goal overwhelm us.

The key is not to forget these moments, get back from your session and write it down, then you can work on the weak area.

I love helping @e3coach athletes not only improve their fitness and mindset but giving them the tools to understand their bodies.
